Bow River Village – Riverside Walks

Bow River Village is an award-winning collection of one, two and three-bedroom homes, idyllically situated on the banks of the River Lea in East London.

Nature-enthusiasts will be impressed with the greenery surrounding Bow River Village, and the development’s access to some stunning riverside walks. Here’s a round-up of some of our favourites.

Only half a mile from Bow River Village is Limehouse Cut, one of the earliest canals in London. Enjoy a stroll along the towpath, passing underneath roads and railways to reach Limehouse Basin, only a few hundred metres from Canary Wharf. Be sure to take time along the way to admire the beautifully crafted brick bridges.

Heading North, a stroll to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is perfect for a sunny Sunday afternoon. To get to the park, simply head along the River Lea, and then access Bow Back River and ultimately the City Mill River - which takes you right up to the entrance. Once you arrive, be sure to walk around the large wetland bowl which has been carved by the river’s path in the north of the park.

Another option is to walk from Bow River Village to Victoria Park. To do this, simply head north along the River Lea, before turning west onto the Hertford Union Canal; a short but charming waterway that runs alongside Victoria Park. Look out for the abundant, colourful narrowboats which use this short-cut from Regent’s Canal to the River Lea.

If you’re looking to go travel afield, you can continue west along the length of Hertford Union Canal, turning onto Regent’s Canal, which will take you all the way to Islington. En-route, why not stop off at Broadway Market or enjoy an energising coffee and snack at The Towpath Café?

For another longer route, head north along the River Lea and River Lea Navigation to Hackney Wick; home to a number of excellent places for refreshments, such as independent café, bar and restaurant, Grow, and CRATE Brewery and Pizzeria.

Our final riverside walk is via the Three Mills River Walk to Hackney Marshes; known as “the spiritual home of Sunday league football”. If football isn’t your thing, then take advantage of the bird hide and conservation area, and be sure to visit the café bar and roof terrace.
